About Ashley’s Kicks for Kids
Ashley’s Kicks for Kids is a non profit organization in memory of our daughter Ashley Ann Engel who was killed in a boating accident at the age of 20 on July 18th, 2011. Ashley loved shoes and also loved tutoring for students in high school who were new in the country and coming from our local immersion centers in Sioux Falls. So we put the two together and came up with Ashley’s Kicks For Kids.
We donate brand new tennis shoes in youth size 11 to 6 for both girls and boys. In the last four years we have been able to give every student at the Jane Adams Immersion Center a brand new pair of shoes. We also gave to Anne Sullivan Elementary and we given a large amount of new tennis shoes to students in need at Cleveland Elementary School.
We are now in our fifth year and are fundraising to refill our supply of new shoes to give once again to the Immersion center and also other low income schools. Our hopes for Ashley’s Kicks For Kids is to continue to grow and to be able to reach more children in need and give them a new pair of tennis shoes. Right now we are giving to local schools but are hopes are to grow large enough to be able to give students on our South Dakota Native American reservations a new pair of shoes also.
There is much joy in giving to children in need and we hope you too will feel motivated in giving to Ashley’s Kicks for Kids and receive the joy and happiness in giving to others in need. We are now recognized as a tax-exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to Ashley’s Kicks for Kids are now deductible under section 170 of the code. One hundred percent of the money donated and shoes given go to Ashley’s Kicks for Kids goes directly to children in need.
